The Whitman bibliography is one of the most powerful and important tools on the Walt Whitman Archive. With the generous permission of Donald Kummings, editor of Walt Whitman, 1940-1975: A Reference Guide (G.K. Hall, 1982), we have expanded the on-line, searchable database of published works about Whitman back to 1940.
The next stage of this project at Texas will be to build the bibliography back to Whitman's time from 1940. Existing print bibliographies will need to be supplemented extensively; ongoing editing of the bibliography is performed at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, and newly published works are entered by the staff of the Walt Whitman Quarterly Review at the University of Iowa.
